Hello From Oxford!
After flying for 8 hours, sitting in the Heathrow airport for 5, sleeping on my suitcase in Paddington Station for 2 hours, and taking a train, we finally made it to Oxford. It is a busy little city, lots of tourists. England is having an unusual heat wave right now so it is pretty hot and humid right now.
First day consisted of touring the college, touring the library, wandering around the city, eating lunch, going to the Ashmolean museum, and then going to an evensong service at St. Mary's Christ Church, which is basically the smallest cathedral in England. My feet hurt, my back is killing me, I am dehydrated, slightly dizzy most of the time, and coming down with a cold, but all in all having a fabulous time!
Oxford college is so old, but so cool, the floors aren't level, the layout of the buildings and rooms is strange, but the architecture is beautiful. Not sure how I feel about traditional British breakfasts, but the tea is amazing. So much history here it is amazing. The buildings and the town is so cute, the people are relatively nice.
Some things I have noticed about England so far, they apparently don't believe in drinking fountains, they don't have them anywhere, not even public areas. They are making good directions towards going zero waste, good for you. They obsess about their grass, you can't touch it or look at it wrong, yet it is brown and ugly, what are you afraid I am going to kill it? I think paying to use the bathroom is obsured. What you think I want to take time to do this? People walk everywhere and are so fit. Good on you people! The fashion is also a little different here.. aparently sheer is in this season.
Anyways, just wanted to check in real quick to let you all know I made it and am doing wonderfully!
Cheers!
