Respect Your Resources

Zero Waste: Something that is near and dear to my heart.

I believe we are called to take are of the resources God has given us, and that includes the earth.

Being in Kenya this can been reintegrated. The people here do not take care of their resources at all. They drink a lot of bottled water, because well it is clean, and their tap water is not, however then they throw the plastic bottles everywhere! Plastic if not recycled, stays on the earth for hundreds of years, it takes forever to break down, some kinds of plastics don’t break down ever.

I watched a man last week, drink a water bottle, and then throw it on the ground behind him. Um sir, what do you think is going to happen to that bottle? Have some dignity. Why do people that don’t have much throw things around everywhere? Have a little respect.

The government is trying to take steps to change this, plastic bags are banned from the country. They take them from you at the airport, which I found interesting, you have to buy canvas ones at the store. It is taking care of some of the plastic problem, however, I think plastic bottles are a big issue here because they are everywhere!

Folks, reuse bottles, treat your water if you have to. recycle, reuse, be careful with the resources you have been trusted with, because they may not always be here.
