Sometimes your body breaks down, but you have to keep pushing. You have to keep moving and learning despite exhaustion. I am really learning that you can push yourself to do most things. I have never had to sit still for so long, and many of you know that is often hard for me to do.
I am learning to to be effective and efficient because there just aren’t enough hours in the day. I am learning that some things are meant for today, and some things are meant for tomorrow and that is okay. You don’t have to always get everything done today. Many of you know I am a get everything done right now kind of person because I hate things hanging over my head and I hate having things to do. I like to get them done and then I don’t have to stress anymore. However, that is not always possible, especially now and I have to be okay with that.
I have never been so exhausted in my life, except for maybe when I was doing food service and was on my feet all day. I get out of class at 5, and am done eating by 6:30 and am crashing hard by 8:30. I sleep so hard 6am always comes way to fast.
If anyone is curious we eat pretty much the same thing in the cafeteria every meal. Rice, ugali (which is basically thick grits), cabbage, “curry”, beans, some form of veggie meat, and watermelon, sometimes we also have jipati. African food tends to be bland, and is not my favorite. It doesn’t really sit well with me a lot of the time either. I have been craving a good latte, pizza, paninis, fu chuk (Chinese porridge), pho, really anything American, which is really weird because I normally really don’t like American food. I am an Asian food kind of gal!
Oh well, this is a growing experience, and charcoal and papaya are my friends.
