To my now eighth graders

To my Third graders turned Eighth graders (or anyone else missing graduation),

I know it stinks. There is no way around it. You are missing something. Things didn’t work out the way you thought they would, the way they were expected to, it happens and with it comes a lot of questions and frustration, saddness, and maybe anger. I want you to know that that is okay. Whatever you feel is okay. Sometimes we hurt but I want you to know you are not alone. Lots of people are hurting with you. Does that make it hurt less? Probably not but I want you to know missing graduation doesn’t diminish the work you put in, the times you put in extra effort, the times you spent tutoring, the late nights, the study sessions, all of that is still worth it because you finished. Sure maybe you don’t get to celebrate the same way but I want you to know that I am still extremely proud of you and I am cheering you on from afar! You are about to embark on such a great next chapter of life and I know you are going to do great things! You are leaders and silly, caring, and loving and I know you are going to use that for good. I want you to remember that Jesus is still with you in these times. He celebrates with us and he cries with us and I know he is right there with you now. You are loved and you are cherished! Remember to meet me by the sea of glass and we will have a beach day once again.

Yours always,
Miss Epperson
