Trust The Waiting
I have been feeling so blessed and very reflective lately. I have been walking through a very long, painful at times, season of waiting. I was getting very anxious for it to be over and have felt close to the end for a long time. As I look back now I see so clearly the steps that got me to where I am now. The steps that didn't seem to make sense at the time, painful moments, and things I didn't really want to do.
In may I felt desperate and lonely and in need of some income so I applied to coffee stands in the area and took a job I thought would be temporary and would give me flexibility and income while I finished school. The job ended up being a lot, a lot of time, a lot of energy, a lot of exhaustion, but some of my customers worked half a block away at world relief, an organization I had driven by a few times and passively told myself to check it out. One day I asked them if they were hiring and they said they were hiring for their internship program. I needed an internship to finish school. I stopped by after work and got some more information but I thought it sounded like a lot of work and energy that I did not have time for. I applied just to see what would happen. I got the job, trusted God, and spent the next 6 months falling in love with a community of people and a job that didn't feel like work at all.
While working I took a refugee family to Sammamish to stay with a host home for the weekend before their apartment opened up on Monday. I met the sweetest family who was so supportive and opened their home to this family they had never met before. Fast forward a few weeks and I get a facebook message from the father of the host family asking if I was the girl that dropped the family off at his house. He asked if I was adventist (we had many mutual SDA friends in the area) and told me he was a pastor of a SDA church in Seattle and invited me to check out his church. I did, and have been going every week since. I found the family and community I craved in a little adventist church that meets in a catholic church in Seattle.
I really don't know why I was so reluctant to apply in the first place but it all fell into place. I said a sad goodbye to my internship but applied for a full time job and was actively searching for a job that would suit me best.
After months of waiting I have accepted a full time position as a health and wellness caseworker at World Relief Seattle, located in Kent and I could not be more excited. I have seen God work in my life. He took care of all my needs and provided a church family just because he could. Everything I wanted and needed he provided and I could not be more overwhelmed.
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. I am thankful for all of you who have been by my side through this journey.
