Dayako Ghar

I just wanted to hop on here and say a little bit about the organization I have been working with here in Nepal.

I work for a nonprofit started by two ladies from Denver Colorado. The organization is called Dayako Ghar, which means house of kindness in Nepali. It is a partner with an existing nonprofit that teaches women to sew and Nepali and English literacy. Dayako Ghar then hires women that graduate from the program to make 100% Nepali products and sells them. A lot of women that graduate start their own businesses, however some just want to work for existing businesses. This is where we come in. We hire women and a portion of the profit from the products we sell go back to the women, and another portion goes back to the sewing school. It is a great circular system.

Dayako Ghar is almost a year old and we are excited to launch our product line in May. Hemp, yak wool, and cotton are a few of the materials that we use to make wraps, tshirts, and bags. They are all 100% Nepali, made and sources from Nepal and they help women of Nepal.

However, there are other ways to help besides buy product.

You can pay the wages of a women, buy a sewing machine, buy materials, pay rent, or invest in our micro loan. We are doing what we can to tell women and families in Nepal. For more information feel free to ask or check out my instagram for pictures and videos. You can also check out our website. Dayakoghar.com.

I am so happy and blessed to be able to be a part of this organization and I could not ask for a better place to be a marketing/communication intern. This is everything I envisioned for my career and I am so happy to be able to share my experiences with all of you.
