I guess It Is Time To Leave...

Well these have been the longest and shortest three months of my life and honestly it feels like I have been here for a year. The last two weeks flew by as we had to scramble to get the last of our assignments done and turned in and make up for lost time since, I was in the hospital.

We moved out of the village into our teacher’s home, which brought with it lazier days, but also busier ones, I stopped working from the office, because quite frankly I was exhausted. It took me a long time to be able to get up and walk around without turning pale, being extremely winded, and people rushing around to bring me water, and asking if I was okay. Apparently pushing tiny stones out of your body is really exhausting, who would have known? But I was thankful to be able to work from home.

We spent our last weekend in Malawi at the lake, and let me tell you that place is beautiful. The water is aqua blue, and has the best freshwater snorkeling in the world, and man it was beautiful. We were in the water pretty much all day long and laid around in hammocks at night. It was such a wonderful weekend and a great way to spend our last weekend together as a group of friends. I got burned and am now officially peeling all over but it was so worth it.

The last few days in Malawi were really sad, the marketing teacher at the University, whom I had been working with to have her marketing students help me with marketing projects for the university, died in a car accident. She was in her mid 20s and full of life and one of the most beautiful people I had ever met. It devastated the students, the school, and the community. We spent several days wrapping things up and saying goodbyes, and it was hard to imagine not seeing these people around anymore they have become my family. However, I am so ready to not be eating rice, cabbage, and eggs everyday. Goodness gracias.

I spent the weekend in Kenya, as we had to catch our return flight back home. It was quite fun, we saw giraffes and I fell in love with them. I also did a lot of sleeping, and I even squeezed in a Netflix show, since I had usable internet for more than 1 minute at a time. I probably should have been working on homework, but oh well, my body is just very tired.

I am really ready to not be living out of a suitcase, let me tell you that gets old quick, I am ready  for a real shower, and I am ready for a machine to wash my clothes, and dry them! Everything in my suitcase smells like old moldy, gym socks, and the smell makes me gag. I can’t handle it. Mind you my clothes haven’t been really washed since before I left, and the past week or so it rained pretty much constantly so they never really dried, so they very well might be moldy. oh well the joys of life in Africa.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support over the past few months. It meant so much to know that I had people supporting me at home. If you haven’t been getting updates on Facebook, I hope this was helpful, I posted pictures on Instagram when I could, but I know you all wanted updates more, or maybe that was just my mom. haha.

love you all. I am currently in Nairobi waiting to board my plane back home, should be home in about well…. 21 hours.
